JOHN LOUIS is undisputedly the greatest rider in the history of Ipswich Speedway and one of England's finest. A true superstar and legend in every sense.
Within a couple of years of his sensational debut for his home-town club, local hero 'Tiger' had burst onto the world stage. He powered his way to his first World Final in 1972 and three years later rose to World No.3 status - the first Brit to finish among the medal placings in 13 years - just weeks after being crowned British Champion with a faultless maximum.
As well as winning three FIM World Team Cup gold medals (1972, 1974 and 1975), Louis lifted the World Pairs title (with Poole's Malcolm Simmons) in 1976. England ruled the roost during the sport's last golden era and the man with the famous stripey-leathers was one of its foremost flag-bearers.
This double-disc DVD features more than 50 of Louis' races in a glittering career spanning 16 seasons - from his first full campaign in 1970 to his swansong in 1984, when this Peter Pan of the raceways reclaimed his England place and was still going strong as a British League No.1 at the age of 43.
